This project was a joint cooperation between NARSS, Center for the Development of Curriculum and Educational Materials (http://moe.gov.eg/ccimd/index.html), Information Technology Institute (www.iti.gov.eg/).
Indeed, the Egyptian Ministry of Education (http://portal.moe.gov.eg/eng/Pages/default.aspx) has recently begun to be interested in teaching remote sensing science, its applications and space science throughout all pre-university education. Thus, National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences (NARSS) have a great responsibility to strengthen and raise awareness with space technology and its applications, through its implementation using geospatial technology and remote sensing in schools through two axes. The first axis deals with the evaluation of existing educational curricula in Egypt in all general education stages, interested in space science and its applications (e.g. remote sensing, etc.), and to develop appropriate recommendations for curriculum development that cope with the development of international curricula. The other axis deals with the design and development of interactive maps to create a learning experience that makes the process of knowledge acquisition effective and attractive to students, taking into consideration the training of teachers to how to use these maps that leads to the development of intelligence and skills for students/teachers.
