The government is providing much attention for horizontal expansion for the settlements and coinciding with that vision suggestion of a project for North West Coast as a main promising area for coastal and urban development, that assures the need for more studies to achieve sustainable devolvement based on availability of land and local resources including raw materials and ground water and attracting of much labor. Matrouh governorate – with its NW expansion and its south extended to Siwa oasis- is considered a much promising area in Egypt and that for having many natural resources beside many recreation areas with touristic attraction supporting the economic growth in the area. So, this study aimed to identify problems facing coastal and marine areas due to natural hazards and/or irrational human activities that might exceed the environment carrying capacity for that area and complying with strategic plans for the Governorate and assuring environmental rules and laws.
