This study aims to study the geological and hydrogeological condition atNew Atfih city for sustainable development. Due to the scarcity of observational data, computation are carried out using sophisticated techniques where remote sensing data used with Hydrological River Basin Environmental Assessment Model (Hydro-BEAM) to simulate several flash flood events at wadi-Ramliya. Systematic planning and managing for groundwater exploration using high and modern techniques were implemented for the proper utilization, management and protection of this vital resource. Enhanced Thematic Mapper Landsat (ETM+) images, GIS, hydrological modeling and DCR techniques were integrated to achieve this approach.

Results:

1-Estimation of the rainfall parameters from remote sensing sources as the installed rain gauges neither exist in the study area nor in the neighboring catchments.

2-Estimation of runoff parameters including transmission losses, rates and magnitudes.

Geophysical time-laps measurement are very promising as the aquifer is completely confined regarding the natural discharge of its groundwater due to the barrier effect of fault transect the downstream section of the main wadi. Therefore, repeating same measurements, particularly after flash flood events as the surge of water table can be detected and measured.
