The project was direct contract with the Qaliobia Governorate.

The main objective of this study is to provide scenarios and solution to the current problem in the railways network in Qaliobia Governorate. The local community have a problem of illegal moving among both sides of the railways that make life losses and large socio-economic problems. The project was direct contract with the Qaliobia Governorate to map the up-to-date status and provide solutions. The study based on high resolution satellite images, field observation, thematic maps and spatial analysis. Firstly, we mapped the population density alongside the railways network and obtained all the zebra crossing and gates as well as the illegal opening gates. Then statistical spatial analysis was made to propose the different scenarios including:

• 8 bridges for pedestrian (3 on Qalioub – Shebien line, 3 on Qalioub – Kanater line, and 1 on Cairo-banha line)
• 4 new zebra crossing (for cars, pedisterian) – 3 on Cairo – Banha line, and 1 on Qalioub – Shebien line)
• 2 conversion of exisinting illegal crossing to legal zebra crossin (2 on Qalioub – Shebien line)
• 2 conversion of an illegal open gates to legal crossing (2 on Qalioub – Shebien line)
