the Arab  forum in tripoli on water scarcity and its social, economic and environmental impact on sustainable development was launched on Monday. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Bayoumi Zahran gave a lecture entitled "the role of sensing distance and digital transformation in achieving the sustainable development goals" through the zoom electronic platform, and it is worth mentioning that representatives of the national committee for education, culture and science, the sahel and sahara observatory, the regional center for North African states, the Libyan centre for remote sensing and space sciences, the undersecretary of the ministry of higher education and a number of specialists in relevant agencies participated in the ministries of agriculture and environment, the Libyan centre for remote sensing and space sciences, and a number of specialists in the relevant departments of the ministries of agriculture and environment. agricultural research, water resources, the national oil corporation, the committee against desertification, the tajoura desalination centre, the department of natural resources, tripoli and zawiya universities, and the Libyan meteorological centre). the forum's agenda included 21 visual presentations, presented and talked about by specialists in this field, which were about indicators of the deterioration of the water situation in Libya, models of sustainable projects in combating desertification and water harvesting, as well as UNESCO's role in supporting sustainable development, spatial analysis of promising rainwater harvesting areas in the north-eastern region and climate adaptation options, groundwater exploration in the rocks, the use of plastic waste in water treatment, the exploitation of treated sewage, remote sensing and transformation roles. digital in achieving the sustainable development goals, rainwater and groundwater harvesting, real water security and ways to achieve it in Libya, the regional center and development projects in North Africa, and other presentations of other titles, as well as the forum sessions included panel discussions on the topics presented. "this forum is one of the projects of the national committee for education, culture and science, where we have collected the relevant authorities, in addition to some research centers, and we will host some students to implement a training program accompanying the forum," said Akram Al-Saahi, chairman of the executive committee of the forum.
