Data Reception, Analysis and Receiving Station Affairs

The division has the following structure and human resources:

Departments:

1. Digital image processing and its applications (DIP):

• Developing and implementing the new technologies and software of digital image processing and conducting researches on different remote sensing applications for integrated community services and national development plans.
• Diversify digital image processing for high quality output in different fields of remote sensing applications.
• Production of photomaps, mosaics and atlases in different scales.
• Reception, monitoring and analysis of different satellites digital data.
• Internal and external technical and expert assistance and consultancy in image processing projects.
• Providing training courses on digital image processing techniques and the related issues.
• Strengthening the scientific cooperation with similar national and international departments and divisions.

2. Geographic Information System (GIS):

• Developing and implementing the new technologies and software for geographic information systems and building various databases and conducting researches on different remote sensing applications for integrated community services and national development plans.
• Building databases in different fields of remote sensing applications.
• Internal and external technical and expert assistance and consultancy in GIS projects.
• Providing training courses on geographic information system techniques and the related issues.
• Strengthening the scientific cooperation with similar national and international departments and divisions.

3. Receiving Stations:

• Ground Receiving Station (Aswan).

The ground receiving station, equipped to receive data from LANDSAT, SPOT and ERS. It was upgraded to receive EGYPTSAT-1 and  CEBRS-2B satellite’s data to support the national developing projects and supply data to neighboring countries.

• HRPT Meteorological Station (NARSS).

The HRPT (High Resolution Picture Transmission) receiving station, equipped to receive data from NOAA/METOP meteorological satellite series to cover the needs of the country.
