NARSS is an outgrowth of a Remote Sensing Center, established in 1971 as an American-Egyptian joint project that was affiliated to the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. In 1994, it was established as an organization.

About NARSS

NARSS has been established in 1991 as a General Authority for Remote Sensing belongs to the Ministry of State for Scientific Research.

NARSS was then organizationally restructured in 1994; following the Presidential Decree No. 261 for 1992, as a National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences belongs to the Ministry of Scientific Research.
