Revision of the Atlas for Building Material in Egypt and on the industries based upon them

This project concerns the building materials and the industries based upon them in the Egypt and aims a new map for distribution of building materials such as limestone, sandstone, sands, gravels, clay, gypsum, granite, serpentinites, marble etc., by using Remote Sensing Techniques and GIS system. The work of the project includes a discussion of the industries which could be related to these materials and suggestions for future development plans in each governorate. This development includes the exploitation of building material in the concerned governorates and in the deserts surrounding them. This is done to help the decision makers and local authorities in the governorates in planning for sustainable development. It also includes the erection of housing settlements and new industrial areas aiming to prepare the stage to attract local and foreign capital and new investments. It also involves the establishment of industries based on the processing of the building material. All these activities should promote the urban, economic and social development of
